  • Han-gang River and Nakdong-gang River flow along the Sobaek-san Mountain. The two waterways do not meet with each other; however, they created new culture while flowing over and around the Sobaek-san Mountain. Like this, Sobaek-san Mountain was always the beginning point of our culture and the Sobaek-san Mountain Jarak-gil Trail (Jarak-gil is a trail running along the foot of a mountain) became a road connecting the two cultures.

There are 12 Jarak-gil Trails in the Sobaek-san Mountain Jarak-gil Trail. The 400-li (1li=4km) Jarak-gil Trails carry the tales of the sages who led Korea as well as the traces of nameless country women. All the characters in it love and respect big mountain. Therefore, a person who walks on Jarak-gil Trail becomes a sage.

People can enjoy by self on Sobaek-san Mountain Jarak-gil Trail. They can listen to the flowing brook along the deep valley; while looking at the sunlight falling down through the branches and beautiful wild flowers. In nature, we can have fun as much as we want. Therefore, they said Sobaek-san Mountain makes a man healthy.

Sobaek-san Mountain Jarak-gil Trail was designated as a “culture eco trail with story” from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2009. In 2011, it was selected as a “star in Korean tourism”. Sobaek-san Mountain Jarak-gil Trail became a national trail, which we should be proud of as a Korean tourist attraction. It is a precious resource, which we should take care and pass down to posterity in good state.
