The sad legend of beautiful sparkling Geumgye-bawi Rock

There are two chicken-like rocks in the valley behind Saembat-gol Village at the north of Geumgye-ho Lake. These two rocks are called ‘dalksan’ or ‘Geumgye-bawi’ Rock. Long time ago, there was a big jewel impregnated in the rock at the location of the chicken’s eye. One day, a traveler climbed up the rock and tried to take out the jewel. Then there was a thunderbolt and the traveler fell and died. The jewel also disappeared. Since then, the village gradually became poor.
