Trail 4 is a winding and bending trail of memory and story held by our grandmothers. The Danyang people living at Gosu, Nodong and Majo area used this old trail to reach Punggi market over Juk-ryeong Hill. The trail still keeps the old scenery of rural village. Especially, the Dang-i-jae Hill, which was used by the residents of Majo and Suchon, still keeps the natural state as it was.

The relation made through a millstone

During the Japanese invasion in the 16th century, many refugees from noble class and lowest class came to Danyang over Juk-ryeong Hill because this area is known as having the Sipseungji (ten safe locations during the time of war). There were young adults and they wanted to join with each other; however, they could not find a proper excuse or opportunity. One day, an old monk came and told a young man and young woman that the mountain in the rear (Duak-san Mountain) is a special mountain; therefore, if you two would marry, your child will become a general. So, the two young adults agreed to roll two millstones out of one set from the top of the mountain assuming that the upper millstone is a man and lower millstone is a woman. If the millstones found at the bottom of mountain would meet with each other, they will marry, if not, the man will go over Juk-ryeong Hill and the woman will cross Han-gang River. They climbed Duak-san Mountain separately carrying a millstone each and rolled them separately. At the foot of the mountain, they found the two millstones are joined. They learned that they are heaven-joined couple and married. Their prosperity prospered here in Danyang and they believe their relations are made by a set of millstone.
